I am rebellious.
Why did you design the bag you did? Why did you select the style? Leather?
When I originally went to design my duffel, I wanted an all-black bag with a red interior. I really like pieces that are classic and work with my wardrobe. I felt like a black bag would go with everything. In the normal world, it’s not rare for me to go from the gym to work and then out to an event in one day. I needed a carryall that was stylish. However, an all-black bag, while classic, was boring. So, I decided to go bold with a completely orange bag and keep the bright red interior.
What does your bag say about you?
I think my bag reflects my rebellious nature quite well. Especially when it comes to the way I designed it. Going with the typical black bag at first would seem on point for me, but something was telling me to go bright and go big. I think if you were to ask someone to explain to me in one word, the last thing they would say is rebellious. They may say confident or down to earth. However, deep down, I know that the word rebellious suits me very well, just like how I knew this orange bag, while unexpected, would fit perfectly into my life.
Have you always been you or did you grow into yourself?
I’ve always been me, but in smaller versions. I had to go through certain things and push myself to become who I am today, but there was always this version of myself pushing me from the inside.
When was the last time you rebelled?
I feel like existing in my fat body, and even using the word fat to describe my body, happily and confidently is a rebellion. Whenever I put on a great outfit or something that is sexy and hugs my curves just right, I feel rebellious in a really empowering way.
Is there a quote or motto that you live by?
When you uplift other women, you empower yourself.
How does Laudi Vidni help you tell your story as a unique, one-of-a-kind person?
I love that I was able to customize my bag and create the process into a personal journey where I learned something new about myself.
What event in life has shaped you most as a person, and how?
I think the single event I can pinpoint to shaping me the most was moving away from my hometown. When I started to live life outside of my comfort zone, it showed me who I could be and what I could achieve. I was no longer held back by boxes that other people created for me to belong in. The only person I had to answer to was myself.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’ll try anything! I love wearing outfits and styles that plus-size women have been told they couldn’t wear. Big and bold prints, bright colors, and sexy dresses… I’m all for it! But I also love an all-black ensemble for the office.
