ELI

Who are you?
We are all collections of our mutual experiences. I'm a writer, scholar, organizer, educator, and individual with many lived histories. I'm also a queer trans woman, and proud of it!

Why did you design the bag you did? Why did you select the style? Leather?
Often, I'm drawn to plain (aka boring) attire because I know it will match with clothing I already have. I decided on the unique black woven leather backpack because it's flexible but still has a fun flare to show off to the world.

What does your bag say about you?
My bag is dark on the outside with gorgeous reds on the inside. There are layers upon layers, telling a story but only to those who can open it up. Like me, it's guarded but with many narratives to share underneath the service.

When was the last time you rebelled?
Trans people rebel every day. Whether it be expressing ourselves, going to a protest, or holding the gate open for a trans comrade passing through a subway station, our existence is a rebellion against gender norms.

What are some things you do to celebrate you?
Learning to celebrate oneself means coming to terms with the many identities we inhabit. Knowing that we are multifaceted people and no one thing can define any one person makes me celebrate the facts and beauty of being in the world.

How does Laudi Vidni help you tell your story as a unique, one-of-a-kind person?
I've always had trouble choosing the right outfits. There could be one small part off and I wouldn't accept it at all. The customizable content of Laudi Vindi breaks down those worries and lets us express ourselves how we want to.

How would you describe your personal style?
I describe my style as fluid. Some days I'll wear suits and other days I'll dress in sheer tops. I appreciate fashion that can accommodate the many styles I look to express myself in.
