I am an amputee and a plus-size fashion blogger. You'll find me at @Anneandkathleen, named after my grandmas because I am all the bits and pieces of the women who came before me.
Why did you design the bag you did? Why did you select the style? Leather?
I wanted something that works with all my outfits. I don't think I have a specific style, so I wanted a bag that will go with almost everything. I wanted something for work so I can carry all my bits and bobs with me.
What does your bag say about you??
My bag says I go with everything and I am ready for any occasion.
What are some of your favorite styles of bags from our collection?
I love the Cambiare tote, the Moto Backpack Mini, and the Comodo Envelope.
What event in life has shaped you most as a person, and how?
It'd be easy to say when my leg was amputated, but I was 13-months old, so being an amputee is just something I have always been. I think working at a child care center in my mid-20s really shaped who I want to be as an adult. I worked for a company that was so diverse and accepting and really, really wonderful. They really make inclusion the forefront of their teaching. It was seriously very beautiful. And it really opened my eyes to see how different we all are, but how we are all very much the same, too.
Have you always been you or did you grow into yourself?
There is a huge part of me that has always been who I am. I think the comfort I feel about myself; that's something I grew into.
Was there a moment when you realized you were you?
I don't think so, but I do think there was a moment when I realized I had changed. And by change, I mean I became comfortable with who I am.
What's a fault you enjoy about yourself?
Oh gosh. I am a pretty nervous person. I just want to make sure I do things the right way. I get worked up and my hands will start to sweat a bit and I think it makes me a little endearing.
When was the last time you rebelled?
Oh I don't know. I'm not much of a rebel. I'm too nervous for that. Sometimes I wear my headphones at work without listening to anything so I can keep concentrating instead of chit chatting. That felt kind of rebellious!
Is there a quote or motto that you live by?
Be a kind human.
What are some things you do to celebrate you?
I don't know if I do this enough! I like to treat myself to something nice when I get the chance. Whether it's a fun book, or something for my house.
How does Laudi Vidni help you tell your story as a unique, one-of-a-kind person?
Laudi Vidni helped me tell my story because there is something for everyone. Even someone who doesn't have a set style.
What are you trying to learn?
Right now, I'm trying to learn a little more about graphic design. I am dabbling in it, just to see if I like it.
How would you describe your personal style?
Maybe hodge podge? I like a little bit of everything. Right now, I really love the bohemian look. But ask me in a week or two, and I could be influenced by something else. Who knows!
